15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton was gunned down in the South Side Park neighborhood of Chicago on Tuesday night, just one week after performing at an inaugural event for President Obama. According to several reports, Hadiya and friends were standing under a canopy out of the rain when a man jumped a fence and opened fire on the group.
Hadiya was shot in the back during the melee, and was pronounced dead at a city hospital. The shooter fled the scene in a car and no arrests have been made. Police do not believe Hadiya was the intended target in the shooting.
Hadiya was a student at the King College Prep High School, where she was a member of the band, which performed at several inaugural events in Washington D.C.

Rest in Peace Hadiya Pendleton: gone too soon. God bless her precious life. I am saddened to the core by these turn of events but understand this. The media will put a spotlight on this ONE LIFE because she sang for Obama's Inauguration. That is a great achievement for any individual but it is irrelevant when we are talking about the LIFE LOST
I didn’t watch the inauguration and couldn't care less about that circus. I am disgusted at the thought of The Media making this story a special one just because she sang for The President. Hadiya Pendleton was special from the day she was born not from the day she died. If Obama wants to acknowledge the problem he needs to do more than take away the guns they supply. They need to start with the education system.
Watch how they use this to fuel their efforts to disarm
